Watershed Development Programme (WDP)

A widower person with disabilities who had limited land and income was helped by a project called Samaleswari Watershed, Ghugurpala. A farm pond was built for the person, where he now does fish farming and earns around 20,000 toA25,000 rupees. The water from the pond is also used to water nearby farms, which has made the crops grow better. The project also gave him a sewing machine and taught him how to use it, so now he can earn an extra 5,000 to 10,000 rupees per month by sewing.
