The State Government, as well as the Central Government, has instigated a lot of programs and measures for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), most of such schemes merely address the medical needs, rights, and entitlements of PWDs. In the absence of any program to develop their residual skills and day-to-day functional abilities, PWDs tend to grow up being dependent on others and deprived of gainful livelihood opportunities.

ASSA in collaboration with CBM and Farmers Producer Organisations (FPO) envisage various processes like the introduction of a high-yield variety of seeds, organic manure, technical knowledge-based training, etc for people with disability, their family, and farmers. This includes the formation of a vermicompost pitthe, construction of a ring-well, farm pond, Mushroom cultivation, Mango plantation, Mo-bagicha, forming vegetable unit, goatry, poultry shed, hybrid farming, fishery unit, labour linkages with MNREGA. All these activities led to an increase in the financial stability of the PWDs and their family members.

Our program supports the empowerment of persons with disabilities in line with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, thereby addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to Leave No One Behind.

The objective of the Project:

  • Enhancing quality production and income levels of Persons with disabilities, their families, and farmers through skill development and financial linkages.
  • Professionalization of FPOs through the enhancing capacity and bargaining power of FPOs.
