Building Back Better (Covid Response in India-2021)

The Covid-19 pandemic has had widespread economic, social, and emotional impacts on all individuals. However, its impact has been disproportionately felt by the poor and marginalized segments of society. Among them, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) have faced the harshest consequences, enduring the loss of livelihood and struggling to meet their basic needs, including regular meals. During this critical period, the support provided by CBM has been instrumental in alleviating the immediate hardships faced by PWDs.

ASSA in collaboration with CBM provided emergency food items to the victims of Covid as short-term basis. 

Key achievements under the project were:

  • People got 6 months of food support.
  • Livelihood support in kinds like goatry, poultry small-scale business centers vegetable vending zones, etc.
  • Nutritional deficiency especially among the PWDs and most vulnerable people like old aged, children, lactating and pregnant mothers were checked.
  • Children with disabilities and marginalized children have continued education.

Outcome or Impact of the Project:

  • 1003 nos. of people received DRKs in two districts namely Balangir & Kalahandi, Odisha.
  • 500 nos. of people received hygiene kits in two districts namely Balangir & Kalahandi, Odisha.
  • 376 PWDs were vaccinated in 4 blocks of Balangir district, Odisha.
  • A total of Rs 1,50,000/- (each Rs 25,000/-) were supported to 6 PWDs for entrepreneurship development.
  • 23 nos. of PWDs received three Goats each.
  • 1000 nos. of LIT. Birds distributed among 25 PWDs.
  • 26 staff and volunteers were engaged in the implementation of relief
